The amount of water depends entirely on if you plan on using the trap as a Live Catch & Release trap or a Kill trap. You then place the mousetrap where the rodent activity is and let it do it's job. The Drop In The Bucket Mouse Trap® is a multi-catch mousetrap and is always set and ready to go for the next catch. Just check your trap periodically and release or dispose of your catch and re-bait as necessary with fresh bait.
